Treating Pain with CBD
A systematic review of randomized controlled trials evaluated the efficacy, tolerability, and safety of cannabinoids in chronic pain associated with rheumatic diseases, including fibromyalgia syndrome, back pain, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The results suggest that CBD oil may have potential in reducing joint pain associated with these conditions.
An article published in the journal O’Shaughnessy’s in 2014 reviewed the use of CBD-rich hemp oil for the treatment of chronic pain. The authors of the article concluded that CBD is effective for reducing chronic pain.
A review published in the journal Current Neuropharmacology in 2018 discussed the potential of the endocannabinoid system as a target for the treatment of osteoarthritis pain. The authors of the review noted that CBD may have anti-inflammatory effects and may be effective in reducing pain in individuals with osteoarthritis.
In a recent survey conducted on 428 candidates in 2022, 82% of the participants have admitted that CBD was primarily used to improve pain management. 60% of the participants also reported that they have stopped using anti-inflammatories overall since using CBD.
Overall, these studies suggest that CBD has great potential as a pain-relieving agent.
